Graduation.

Bare with me on this post.  I'm having trouble getting coherent thoughts down.  The magnitude of this day is hard to put on paper.  Tonight my husband graduates the 27th grade (as I like to call it).  11 years of medical training culminating in this moment.  Imagine the mountain you are looking up when you are in 1st grade and know someday you'll learn enough and have been through enough experiences to graduate high school.  This is the same amount of time.  11 years ago Jeff was staring down the beginning of 4 years of medical school, 3 years of Internal Medicine residency, 1 Chief year and 3 years of Cardiology fellowship.  Some day he'd be finished and ready to start his practice.  Some elusive day.  Some day so far in the future we rarely let our thoughts drift there.  That day is today.  Holy shit.

I came along in year 3 of med school.  A wedding, our condo purchase and Molly came along in year 1 of residency.  Isaac as chief year started.  Audrey in year 2 of fellowship and our first home purchase in year 3.  That's a lot to tackle while also devoting oneself to medicine.  A LOT.  And its been tackled well.

Jeff is the most humble person I've ever known.  He'll be mad that I'm even writing this post.  He never let me shout to the rooftops all of his accomplishments as he became a skilled physician.  All the awards he won, all the nominations he received, all of the cards that came in the mail thanking him for saving a family, all of the gifts and tokens of appreciation from patients.

Jeffy, you've dreamed, believed, focused, studied, struggled, succeeded and achieved.  I've never been so proud of a moment in my life.  Congratultions Dr. Brown, your patients are lucky to have you.  And so are we.
